Next semester, I hope to continue some of the work that Timur did this previous year in order to make Engineering Students Without Borders a more visible organization on grounds.  As social chair, I hope to have semi-frequent social events outside meetings in order to keep our members involved and build our own community.  These smaller events could include tailgates at the lawn rooms, trick-or-treating on the lawn, and various other ideas.  Additionally, I would like to try to strengthen the tradition of one large social event per semester, such as an apple picking trip or camping trip.  Hopefully the other Exec members will have new, unique ideas that we can try to implement to keep ESWB fun and enjoyable as the year progresses.

Additionally, as outreach chair, I want to strengthen ESWB’s ties with other organizations such as Nursing Students Without Borders, Global Brigades (health, water, etc), and other similar organization.  I think that by pooling our resources and working together we can cause a greater change and provide more abundant and diverse opportunities for our members.

I hope to get new members at the beginning of the year, and through activities (both social and with the Events Chair) keep them returning to meetings so the numbers do not dwindle dramatically as the year progresses.  This includes going to the activity fairs and other events.  All of the planning will be checked with the Exec Board to ensure that there are no conflicts and they are at optimal times.

    Steven,

That sounds good. The beginning of this year is going to be some of the busiest time for your position, since we will be reaching out to a lot of new potential members through career fairs and other events.

Like you said I think there is a lot of potential in establishing connections with the other organizations on grounds. We have to make sure that we also maintain relationships with the organizations we already established ties with (GPHB, SEED, GDO). This is also partially the responsibility of Rachel S. and I, so we have to make sure we communicate to stay on the same page and to demonstrate a united front to all of the organizations we reach out to.

I’m looking forward to camping (that is if the weather cooperates)!
